BSCU 2018 Scholarship Program

Need money for college? Apply for a 2018 scholarship!

Here’s how...

College-bound high school seniors have the opportunity to compete for statewide college scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded ranging from $250 to $1,500 and may be used at a two- or four-year accredited educational institution.

Students can take advantage of this opportunity by completing three simple steps:

  1. Stop in at any Buffalo Service Credit Union office to request a scholarship application form, or simply download an electronic application.

    If the student is not a member of Buffalo Service Credit Union, he/she can request a membership packet as well. (All scholarship applicants are required to be members of Buffalo Service Credit Union).

  2. Complete the application form and required essay and obtain the required transcripts, along with the signature of a parent or guardian.
  3. Return the completed application and supportive materials to Buffalo Service Credit Union no later than January 12, 2018.

There is no fee for submitting an application, but applicants MUST be:

  • members of Buffalo Service Credit Union;
  • college-bound high school seniors at the time of application; and
  • attending either a two- or four-year accredited educational institution for the first time in the fall of 2018.

In early spring, applications will be judged against other submissions statewide. Winners will be announced in May.

BSCU’s Jerome E. Poplawski Memorial Scholarships will also be awarded

In addition to the state scholarship, Buffalo Service Credit Union will award its own Jerome E. Poplawski Memorial Scholarship of $500 to the top two scoring applicants who didn’t win the New York Credit Union Association Scholarship.
